2010 marks my 24th year in IT. I have worked as a Data Processing Operator, Mainframe Computer Operator, Database Developer, and, when I realised that I was a better writer than programmer, a Technical Writer.

My programming background has meant that the majority of my writing experience has been documenting software packages including relational database systems for Logical Solutions and Millpost Technologies, legal accounting software for Perfect Technology, global positioning software for MapInfo, Web-based recruitment portals for RecuitASP, and Industrial Control and Digital Video Management software for Honeywell.

I have produced user and system administration documentation, system analysis and design documents, responses to Requests for Tender, white papers, and training material.

I have 5 years experience as an Instructional Designer designing, writing and building e-Learning training courses for Microsoft Office and OpenOffice products. The courses were based on the NSW TAFE curriculums for the Certificates I and II in Information and Technology and the International Computer Drivers Licence (ICDL).

The ICDL course I wrote was the first Australian online learning course to be certified by the ICDL controlling body in Ireland.

More recently, I have written eLearning courses for Windows 7, Facebook, Ebay and Twitter, Office 2010, as well as a series of introductory computer basics for Seniors.
